10 Legoland Florida Hacks & Tips: Know Before You Go

One important factor is to consider whether your kids are tall enough. While Legoland Florida has things to do for all ages, most rides require kids to be at least 34 inches tall.

My barely 2-year-old was 36″ tall and he could ride just about everything he wanted. His brother was 42″ tall and could hop on various roller coasters.

Personally, we wouldn’t have had as much fun if our littlest wasn’t at least 36″ as he’s very into thrill rides, but if your toddler can be happy with simple things like a Duplo train or just playing around then I will say that Legoland will be fun even for tiniest toddlers.

Make sure to stop by the infographic at the park entrance so you can see which rides your kids can ride based on their height!

Also, ask the employee whether your child can actually do something. Our younger wasn’t 3 just yet and started having a meltdown when his brother was doing the Mini Riding Academy. As there was no one in line, the incredible employee offered to help him drive which totally made his day!

1. Look for package deals online

One of the best LEGOLAND Florida money-saving secrets is to look for package deals online. There are always deals for LEGOLAND Florida, so there’s no reason to pay full price.

When you bundle tickets and hotel together it’s much cheaper and let’s be real: the hotel is incredible!

Costco also has single-day admission tickets for significant savings (they also do for the Kennedy Space Center!)

2. Plan for at Least Two Full Days

We stayed for 2 nights but arrived late the first day and we all felt like we could have added an extra day and night as my kids were having a blast.

The park has shorter hours than other theme parks (10am-5pm), so time flies by. In two days we were able to do all the rides, but my kids would have loved to go back to the waterpark where we spent half the first day and even spent more time at the hotel playing.

We didn’t even get to enjoy the pool at the hotel, as we were lacking time, so two full days are the bare minimum.

P.S. Always pack your swimsuits. We didn’t plan on going to the waterpark on our first day, but then it turned out to be a beautiful day so I sent my husband to go grab our suits from the hotel. While it’s not far, it’s quite a walk from the very back of the park where the waterpark is to the hotel if you decide to spontaneously swim during the day.

3. Pick the Right Theme for You

Legoland Florida has two other on-property hotel options: Pirate Island Hotel and Legoland Hotel, but they are attached to one another and can use the amenities of both.

All of the properties offer an all-you-can-eat breakfast. For dinner, you can choose out of 3 restaurants, two of which require booking but we actually moved our booking to a different time and were seated instantly.

The food at Shipwreck Restaurant was surprisingly amazing. I didn’t expect much, but we got the Seadog Skillet (flank steak, pork tenderloin, blackened fish, rotisserie chicken, shrimp, and sides), and this combined with a starter salad and dessert was more than enough food for an excellent price.

Kids were given pirate bandanas and coloring books, but spent most of their time at the in-restaurant play area.

We opted for staying at the Pirate Island Hotel as we knew our kids are obsessed with pirate things. It was a total hit! For girls, there’s a cute Lego Friends floor.

4. Download Legoland App

Unlike Disney which basically cannot be explored and enjoyed without extensive planning and the app, Legoland can be enjoyed without having to constantly stare at your phone. This is incredible, as you can fully immerse yourself in the experience with your kids.

Legoland App can help if you want to take a look at it and check if a certain attraction is temporarily closed. There are rarely lines, so you can just walk up to anything and wait for 2 to 15 min max (the 15 being the roller coaster, but most attractions had a max. 5-minute wait).

You really don’t need the Fasttrack.

On our second day, Coastersaurus wasn’t working for a significant part of the day and having an app was handy, as I could check when it reopened before heading that way.

4. Trade Minifigurines

There are tons of places to trade LEGO minifigures, so bring some you want to exchange! They have little plastic cases with minifigures at most of the stores so you can trade with staff members.

All of the Model Citizens (Legoland employees) have minifigures that they can trade.

5. Bring Food

You are allowed to bring food into Legoland. Even a small square cooler is all right, which is great with picky eaters. I wouldn’t say that you need a cooler, especially not after a big yummy breakfast that’s included with your hotel stay, but it’s nice to have that option.

There are refill stations at the restaurants and soda machines and water is always free.

6. Take a Stroller with You

If you have kids ages 4 and under, I’d definitely use a stroller or wagon. Wagons are allowed at Legoland so we brought ours.

If you don’t own a stroller anymore you can rent a single stroller for $25 and a double for $35 a day. Honestly, if you might as well stop by some shop in town and buy a stroller for the same price and it will be much more comfortable than the plastic one.

7. Book Your Creative Workshop in Advance

Master Model Builder Workshops is a completely free activity at the Legoland Hotel, but it does get booked up so I suggest doing it a few days before your visit.

Every day you can build a different thing. We did it only once and got to build a dog on a skateboard. You can keep your model naturally!

8. Don’t Skip the Cinema

Be sure to stop by the 4D Theater for a movie experience. Both kids were completely mesmerized by the experience. It’s a nice way to cool off or escape the rain.

9. Ride the Elevator

Many rooms are located on the ground floor so you don’t need to use the elevator but do make an effort to ride it. It’s like a disco zone with music and lights and my kids loved it.

10. They Will Hold Your Shop Purchases

There are several LEGO stores throughout the park, but most things can be found at the The Big Shop at the entrance with the exception to “Lego Friends”.

The cool thing is that you can actually have the store bring your shopping bag to the exit and keep it until you leave the park.
