Can American citizens travel to Iran?

Americans used to be able to travel to Iran freely. However, since the beginning of 2017 the situation got slightly more complicated. Despite the initial warning Americans are currently not banned from visiting Iran.

U.S. passports are valid for travel to Iran, but the Iranian government does not recognize dual nationality and will treat U.S.-Iranian dual nationals solely as Iranian citizens.

Is it easy to get a visa to Iran?

Getting a visa to Iran is easier than most people think. Most European citizens are eligible for visa on arrival (VOA). Citizens of the United Kingdom, US, and Canada need to apply for a visa at the Iranian consulate.

Is Iran safe to visit?

While Iran still isn’t perceived as a popular tourist destination, the number of people visiting Iran may surprise you. Iran receives over 6 millions of tourists each year, mostly from neighboring countries, but also a high number of visitors of Europeans and some from the United Kingdom.

Iran is a very safe country, despite what you can hear in the media. Locals are extremely friendly and welcoming. Just like when visiting any other country, as long as you follow the law, you will be totally fine.
